Two additional photos of Notre Dame showing some detail. The first is a couple of gargoyles on the north side. The second is a view from the inside of the stained-glass windows on the south side.

Stained-glass windows of Sainte-Chapelle. It was started in 1242 and built in six years by St. Louis (king Louis IX). Louis had it built to store relics. "Relics" are either parts of a saint's body or something that came in contact with a saint.

This particular window (one of twelve similar windows, each of which tells a story) is called "History of the Relics of the Passion."
