When we arrived in Paris, we stumbled around for a while trying to figure out the Paris metro.
We found the right train to get to the Cluny-La Sorbonne stop, but unfortunately, we got on
the train going the wrong direction. Shortly after I realized this, a nice gentlemen
(that didn't speak a word of English, by the way) pointed and made hand signals to tell
us that we were going the wrong direction. It wasn't a problem, really. All we had to
do was get off at the next stop and cross the tracks to the other side and catch the
next train going the other direction. Unfortunately, the train didn't stop for almost
10 minutes!
We finally got going the right direction and made it to the La Sorbonne
stop. We surfaced on the east side of Jardin du Luxembourg. It was a warm, sunny day
and immediately, we could tell there was a difference between London and Paris. People
really seemed more relaxed, less in a hurry, and less apt to dress in black. Or, maybe
it was just being in the sun after 4 days of gray London clouds.
We made our way to Hôtel Cujas Panthéon. Even though it was
only 1:30 PM, we checked in and discovered a very modern, very comfortable,
very small, but immaculate room.

After we checked in, we walked down the street toward Notre Dame.
