Kirby as a puppy (circa August 1996)
Kirby is a ... well, we're not exactly sure what Kirby is.
But, from the looks of him, he must be very close to a
pure-bred golden retriever. My wife and I found Kirby at the Salt
Lake County Animal Services shelter in July of 1996. He was about
six weeks old and weighed eight and a half pounds.
Kirby is now three and a half years old, weighs 112 pounds, and
is just as playful as the day we picked him up at the shelter.
His favorite activities are playing in the back yard with his
adopted sister Tara. Kirby has completed
a year of obedience training with the Great
Salt Lake Dog Training Club and is a certified Delta
Society® Pet Partners® therapy
dog.
Kirby makes visits twice a month to see his friends at the
Shriner's Hospital
for Children. He also makes weekly one-on-one visits with
a young man at the Decker Lake Youth Center in Salt Lake City.
