A view of the wooden structure that was the entrance to the Todaiji Temple grounds in Nara. Just inside these doors were statues that were supposed to be guards of some kind. These guards were large and very angry-looking.
After our visit to the Todaiji Temple in Nara, we took a walk through the park. We encountered these covered spots along the trail. Pat thought they were so attractive--until she discovered that the structure was actually concrete formed in the shape of wood instead of real wood.
