Peter Hoogenboom and Patricia Hemrich's Trip to Japan
These are just a few of the photos we took on our recent trip
to Japan. We left from Portland, Oregon on July 12 and flew to
Nagoya. We returned on July 20th.

One last sightseeing trip before we left for Gamagori. Tomoko,
Dirk, Pat and I walked down the road to a nearby Shinshiro shrine.
On the way there, we came across a field of grapes. Each bunch
of grapes was carefully wrapped in paper to protect them from
insects, the sun and whatever else might do them harm. We saw
apples wrapped the same way. |

The Shinshiro Shrine. This is about 300 meters down the road
from the Hara residence. Between this shrine and the Hara residence
are the fields that Tatsuhiro-san farms. |

This small memorial is right next to the Shinshiro Shrine that
we visited. Tomoko said this was a memorial to the soldiers from
Shinshiro that died in World War II. |
