A view of The Shambles. Until about 1930, nearly all shops on this street was a butcher shop. "Shammels" were the benches on which the butchers displayed their meats.

After having a a steak and stilton pasty, we made our way to the train station to return to London. We felt like staying longer in York, but we didn't have a place to stay. Plus, we already had reservations at the Victoria Inn in London for our last two days.

On Saturday, October 16, we went to see the changing of the guards at Buckingham Palace.

There were so many people there and we didn't know where the best place was to view it. We ended up at the fence on one side of the palace. We weren't the first there, of course, so all my photos of the event have the back of this man's head in it along with the bars of the fence. This is the best one of about 6 pictures that I took.
